The Zhovtukha family has dedicated their lives to serving others, both in Ukraine and America. Viktor Sr. spent 25 years as a firefighter in Ukraine, literally pulling people from fires, while Nina served over 20 years as a nurse, healing those in need. When they immigrated to America 25 years ago with their five children and nothing but suitcases, they rebuilt their lives from scratch—but never stopped opening their doors to others. Despite Viktor’s serious health challenges including a massive heart attack, diabetes, and blood clots, they transformed their home into a sanctuary for Ukrainian refugees fleeing religious persecution.

Now, as Viktor and Nina face mounting expenses and declining health in their golden years, their son Viktor Jr. carries forward the family mission through “Plucked from the Fire.” After witnessing decades of his parents’ selfless service—welcoming strangers, sharing meals, and rebuilding lives—Viktor Jr. is committed to ensuring that those who have given everything to others receive the support they need.
